Jira: Status tracking for multiple versions

We often have issues reported in JIRA for multiple versions of an application. However the fixes for these issues are not commited at the same time for every version the issue is reported for. This makes it hard to track in which version a fix was commited and developers sometimes forget to commit a fix for a version. Is there a way to track the status of an issue for each version where it is reported separately, but in the same issue? In addition to a single status for an issue (which is only

Jira How to use was clause with Jql

i am developing report plugin for jira where i need to get assignee for given duration.it could be diffrent than current assignee in given duration. now i am building my query in report like below. JqlQueryBuilder queryBuilder = JqlQueryBuilder.newBuilder(); query = queryBuilder.where().updatedBetween(stdate,endDate).and().assignee() in(status_val).buildQuery(); return searchProvider.searchCount(query, remoteUser); i want to get the count for prior assigned issues for given duration.

In the Jira Python API, how can I get a list of all labels used in a project?

I am using the python API for Jira. I would like to get a list of all the labels that are being used in a project. I know that issue.fields.labels will get me just the labels of an issue, but I am interested in looping through all the labels used in a project. Found this to list all components in a project components = jira.project_components(projectID) Am looking for something similar, but for labels...

What would be the alternative to active objects in jira plugin development?

This issue here says that trasnactions don't work in jira. I guess that means that active objects are useless, and unusable in a production environment. So what would be the alternative? I'm new to jira plugin development, and I'm working on my first project, doing the java backend part. I had a very hard time getting the active objects stuff to work, and already spent(wasted?) a week on it. I need full database support, so moving to a key-value pair system would not be enough. Any help wou

Jira FishEye SmartCommits with an external repository

Are Smart Commits supported by external repositories (LightSCM)? I'm developing an external repository provider for PlasticSCM and I would like to do the following using the PlasticSCM checkin (commit) message: close/resolve JIRA issues create Crucible reviews I'm not sure if the API supports it.

Jira gadget is not working

I am trying to develop a gadget that will ultimately incorporate ChartJS, but I am having issues with the default gadget, as it does not load. The code I am putting into the attlassian-plugin.xml is the following: <atlassian-plugin key="${project.groupId}.${project.artifactId}" name="${project.name}" plugins-version="2"> <plugin-info> <description>${project.description}</description> <version>${project.version}</version> <vend

Auto transition in Jira issue in integration with Swarm

I have integration of Jira and Swarm where the code is sent for review and I would like to find any opportunity for auto transition of status in JIRA issue from Open/In Progress to In Review as soon as code review in Swarm starts. And when this code review is done and the task in Swarm is closed I would like to have in JIRA linked issue auto transition to status Resolved. It seems to me that the solution should be easy but I cannot find any ready plugin or solution for this problem. Please could

Jira Restricting Parent Issue status based on sub-task status

Is there a FREE way in JIRA to require that a parent issue can't be advanced to a state until the children (sub-tasks) are advanced to an equal or greater state? FOR EXAMPLE: Suppose an issue has 4 sub-tasks: 3 in PROD state and 1 sub-task is in UAT state. I shouldn't be able to advance the main issue to PROD until that 1 sub-task is advanced to PROD first so all my sub-tasks are in PROD state. Same thing with CLOSING an issue when sub-tasks are OPEN.

Epics in Jira whose Epic-Story Link is from specific project

I would like to find all epics that have "Issues in Epic" from a specific Project. Current JQL: project = FOO AND issuetype = Epic AND key in (FOO-1, FOO-2, FOO-3) I can add and issueFunction in linkedIssuesOf("project = BAR and issueFunction in hasLinkType('Epic-Story Link')"), but it gives me epics which have other types of linked issues (eg. clones, related ..)

Jira task hierarchies

Searching online, I see lots of people asking for features to have multiple levels of sub-tasks, and proper sub-task functionality (like FogBugz). But I don't know if it's planned in future versions, or if plugins exist to provide this functionality. Does anyone know?

How to create a link to issue in Jira API?

I need to create programmatically a link of type "relates to" from one issue to another. I've found a method createIssueLink(Long sourceIssueId, Long destinationIssueId, Long issueLinkTypeId, Long sequence, User remoteUser) in IssueLinkManager, but I can't find anyway to get the issueLinkTypeId. Can anybody help me with that?

Jira subtask disappears from parent story when its status is changed with the drop-down

The Jira Sprint work view displays stories with all their subtasks in columns corresponding to their status. You can change a status of a subtask by dragging it from one column to another (for example for Open to Awaiting QA). If I change the subtask's status not by drag-and-drop but using the drop-down menu of the subtask itself, it completely disappears from the sprint work overview (but it still exists as a subtask of the story). Is this a bug? I don't understand this behavior and it's cau

JIRA How to get the resource params at getVelocityParameters function

I have develop a custom field, the xml is: <customfield-type key="mailru-select" name="An easily filled select list" class="ru.mail.plugins.ms.MailSelectCF"> <description>An easily filled select list.</description> <resource type="velocity" name="view" location="templates/view-mailselect.vm"/> <resource type="velocity" name="column-view" location="templates/view-mailselect.vm"> <params key = "<strong>actionName</strong>" value="abcde"> </re

Get JIRA issue status time

There is a status in my JIRA instance called "Ready For Test" at which the tester would validate and close the jira. I need to know the amount of time the JIRA is in that particular status since it was moved from "In Progress" to "Ready to Test". Is there a JQL query that can do it? I need this time field to be exported to Excel as well so that I can name and shame people and ask them to close the JIRAs as soon as they can.

Setting a default description based on a custom field selection in Jira

I am new into using Velocity but this is what I am attempting to do. Based on a issue type "service request" and custom field option 'a' set description to display 'x' Based on a issue type "service request" and custom field option 'b' set description to display 'y' Based on a issue type "service request" and custom field option 'c' set description to display 'z' I have used the following for this if (($issue.key == '') & ($issue.type().getname == 'service request') & ($customfiel

Adding configuration options to a basic JIRA gadget

This line in the Atlassian documentation leads me to believe that simply including a UserPref element should be sufficient to automatically generate the UI for updating the configuration of a gadget: The container handles generation of the configuration UI, saves the settings and provides an API to access the settings in JavaScript. But it doesn't seem to actually work when I create a test gadget with the following - I don't see any options when I click the "Edit" link on the gadget: <

writing jira query to find tickets where a set custom due date field has been set

I’m trying to set up a filter than returns all the tickets where a custom Due Date field has been set AND then changed to some future date. So I don't want to get tickets back that have gone from unset to set, just where the date has been changed again after being set to an initial date. Seems I can't use the CHANGED parameter on date fields.

Categorization of Bugs in JIRA

We use JIRA to track bugs in our application. Our software pipeline is agile base 2 weeks sprint cycle. Here is the approach that we are thinking about categorizing our bugs, to better understand their nature and magnitude. For bugs we use the following keywords in "Issue Type" field of Jira. Production Bug (Found in Production) Backlog Bug (Came out during Sprint cycle - QA) Extra field in JIRA, called "Bug category", with the following keywords, to further categorize above bugs. Funct

Jira Parent & Child field syncing

I want to write custom code to support the behavior below: Parent A has a field called "ABC" Each Child task of Parent A has this field "ABC" as Read-only "ABC" edited in the Parent should filter down to each child every time its updated. Obviously this wouldn't be a true live sync but should call the same value as soon as the end user refreshes the page to see the updated value. I really, want a Scripted Function that reads custom fields on a parent-task for change, and if changed carries that

custom checkbox with default value is not selected in Jira

In Jira (5.1.3), I have created a custom (Multi) checkbox I have defined only one option (Yes), and set the default value to Yes. When you edit a jira, the checkbox is not pre-selected, even though the default is the same as the value for that checkbox. Is this a bug in jira? or is there something I need to do to get the checkbox pre-selected?

Jira Why do issue view page requires an extra refresh to see the customfield value?

I am updating my custom field pro-grammatically if custom field is left blank. I found a question on stack related to this which helped in saving/updating custom field value correctly.I referred this stack question . As I said I am updating custom field if it is left blank. So I have written some java code which checks if custom field is null if yes then I am generating some values using java code and updating and saving value in database. This all is working fine. I am doing this all when cre

Are "Share" messages logged in JIRA, and can I search them?

Last week, I sent a message via JIRA's "Share" link on one issue to a requester with nearly 100 issues. I haven't received a response and want to follow up, but I don't remember which issue it was. Are "Share" messages logged in JIRA, and is it possible for me to search them? It would be nice to not have to go back through each individual list and search for it.

jira updated field doesn't limit respond

I'm currently interested in automation of some of our processes, so I need to query JIRA with REST. What I want to have in response is timespent of all users for a certain date. So I use the following queries: search?jql=project=%my_project%22&updated&gt;startOfDay(-1d)&updated&lt;endOfDay(-1d)&fields=worklog search?jql=project=%my_project%22&updated&gt;%222014-08-19%22 but in response I get a lot of worklogs which was updated not only the date I pass as argument

Is there a way to edit the source code of the JIRA Issue Collector?

I am trying to allow users to create issues from a webpage, just like the Issue Collector. The problem is, there are only three templates provided for the collector and none of them are quite right. What I want is to have three required fields that then combine to become the description. (Similar to how the first template has "what do you like" "what do you not like" which both go in the description) The problem is there's no obvious way to edit the popup's contents. Is there any way I can ge

In JIRA, how to prevent logging work once an issue has resolution Done?

I want to prevent my users from logging work once an issue gets to a particular status. How can I accomplish this? I have a post-function in my workflow that sets the Resolution, but the "Log Work" item in the More menu still shows up. I don't see in the Project or System administration any options about it.

Jira What does issueFieldMatch() do?

I got this query: project = LSN AND issueFunction in issueFieldMatch(" ", labels, commited) AND issuetype in (CR, PR) AND Stopper not in ("Not a Stopper ") AND status not in (closed) And I'm not sure what issueFunction does.

JIRA Kanban board does not show cards, although there seem to be issues

From one day to another, with changing the issue-filter slightly, the board configuration in JIRA, my Kanban board went empty. I use the following JQL as filter within the board configuration: project = "My amazing project" and fixVersion in unreleasedVersions() ORDER BY priority DESC The above filter does not work. What is working though is project = "My amazing project" and fixVersion = "v1337" ORDER BY priority DESC Interestingly, the first query works in JIRA's issue explorer and gives

Customizing approval and workflow in JIRA service desk

I'm trying to setup a JIRA service desk to accommodate the following flow: Staff (one of some like 20 people within the organization) can submit a request (status = submitted or initiated) via JIRA form Department Manager can approve or disapprove the request (status = approved) Service manager (1-2 people) can acknowledge the request (status = in progress) Service is done => service manager close the request (status = completed or cancelled) Upon completion, the information from the origin

Jira How to filter away resolved issues that did not spend time in progress?

Given a workflow where issues can be BACKLOG, IN PROGRESS and DONE, I want a filter that DOESN'T show done issues that never spent time in progress. It is a reasonably common situation for issues to be moved directly from backlog to done because they e.g. got canceled or evolved into multiple other issues. I'd like to track issues that we've completed, and those "no progress" issues should not show up in it. I have alternatives to pursue if this isn't possible in JQL, but I've played around wi

How to calculate throughput using JIRA?

There is requirement where we have to calculate the throughput for the agile train teams. Is there any chart in JIRA using which we can calculate throughput for agile train teams.

Using JIRA Agile for Scrum (from a Rally user background)

I have been using Rally for Project Management in my previous organization, and now I have to use Jira Agile for the same job in the new organization. I am having hard time understanding the way JIRA Agile works, and could not get a hang of the tool after a week of struggle. I am sorting expert help for what I would like to achieve. I have been using JIRA for many years as a bug logging tool but not as project management software. All I want is to create an Epics and Stories, schedule it into a

How to delete a specific Status type in JIRA

I created a new Status type in JIRA status. Let's call the new status "MERGED." This is in addition to the standard status that Jira provides, like "To Do", "In Progress", "Done" etc. However, we've decided not to use it. All items that were tagged as "Merged" have since been moved to "Done". How do I delete the "Merged" status option in Jira so that nobody accidentally tags any items and it does not appear in any JQL queries?

Handle a 3-tier Application Development with Scrum and Jira

I want to manage a 3-tier Application Develpoment (Data/Business/Presentation) with scrum in jira but do not know if I use 3 Projects (one for each Layer) or one project and arrange the layers with the epic tag function. I have found a lot about big scrum projects but not with this structure and the most articles refered to big teams that we do not have.

Jira Testing (C1+C3) on Cypress 3.0.3 throws error on QRDA 1 which are available for QRDA 3

Note : Please some one please create a new Tag for QRDA I'm stuck in a confused situation. I'm performing QRDA 1 and QRDA 3 test on Cypress 3.0.3 and came across the following issue. Calculated value (0.0) for DENOM (BF63669B-FF4B-47E9-94DA-50F923F374CF) does not match expected value (1.0) Calculated value (0.0) for IPP (D88D0F2F-3176-44D8-99CE-63145C8BABB6) does not match expected value (1.0) The above two errors looks like an reporting error on QRDA-3. But it happens while passing QRDA 1

Jira Confusion in ServiceDesk Notifications

Confusion in ServiceDesk Notifications : I implemented the new service desk project with it's own notification scheme. For the event, 'Issue Created', for example, i added a notification for the reporter to get an email, and then added a group of administrators to be notified as well. Only the reporter gets the notification. We tested this for several event types and see that only the first notification item works, and any subsequent notification item set for the same event do not get an alert.

Add link to image attachment in Jira description/comment without displaying thumbnail

I'm using Jira server (on-premises hosted, not cloud). When I click the attachment button in the Description field or a comment to add a link to an image that was attached to the issue previously, it is displaying a thumbnail of the attachment, which totally throws off the formatting of the Description/comment. Is there any way to suppress this behavior so it just displays a link to the image that expands to a modal, similar to the experience when you click on the attachment name in the list of

Jira: Can non-administrators import into multiple projects?

JIRA offers the possibility to import issues specified in a csv file. From all I know and found, there should be a choice to either select the (single) project to import into from a dropdown list, or tick a "defined in csv" checkbox to sepcify multiple projects as a column in the csv. In our case, it seems only administrators have the "defined in csv" checkbox available. I'm a bit confused, as all information I found either states that all importing requires administrator global permission, o
